The drawings didn't clearly show the practical aspects (i.e. how would planters in steps be maintained). The lawn at 16 feet is a flat lawn, not the sloping one as shown in drawings- i.e. no relationship between planters, staircase and retaining wall shown. But its a usable design, simple and looks good- figured out practical bits ourselves!
this was an outstanding room! Thank you for thinking outside of the box and putting the fireplace elsewhere. Also by moving the couch on the other end of the room you brought balance to the room. The bar is also fun and you brought whimsy to the room with they fixture choice. Thank you for a terrific design!
Don't like the pediments on the fence uprights. I wish you had added design for patio and more seating and fire pit in front... not just under the covered patio area. Also would have liked to have seen your placement/design for our vegetable garden. You didn't offer alternative to grass... which we want to remove.
Overall I liked it. I like the ceiling plan and the materials list. I don't like the closet in the Master and losing the closet and space in the office. I'm afraid it will bring the value of the house down by not being able to list this office as a potential bedroom. I also wanted my island in the walk-in closet and wouldn't be able to fit it in this one. Window placement is incorrect as well (we can't move the windows).
This seems like a very affordable and practical design. Reuse of existing furniture, and suggestion to refinish existing cabinets is much appreciated. The colors are warm and homey. A few things I'd change: We would need to add the dining room table back in, and more lighting in the dining room and kitchen ceilings.
Your submission is very impressive. We appreciate the professional presentation and your inclusion of all the specifics. We very much like the way you redesigned the book cases with the stone details, the wine storage and the combination of both a display shelf and wall art. We also like the numerous ways to tied the elements together with the other surrounding rooms. The only drawback was that we really wanted to have some upholstered seating as well in the room.
I liked the bursts of color, particularly. And the way it is highlighted by the lighting plan. Also, the wide stairway and the curved railing system was nice. I do like the planter on the right side of the driveway, but I'm not sure it's practical, and I could see it being destroyed in harsh northeastern US winters with snow pileage from a snow plow or shoveling. Thank you very much for your work on my project!
Thank you for your submission as well as the wiring diagram. Your drawings really helped me to see how it will look with the sliding screens! Unfortunately I cannot change the position of the toilet as you have, so doors and other features would have to be changed. That's one of my major obstacles.
The two room design did not work out as we thought. The other design that blocked the dining room window we felt we could expand. This seems the only way we can have one room.
There is much about this submission to love! I love the fact that you kept children in mind all the way through! The planters are a VERY good idea! I also appreciate that you were aware of costs and looked to "off the shelf" solutions to the water feature and more. I believe I would have preferred the pathways to be a little less straight Also, I like an open, grassy area. Still, this was a wonderful design. Your designer notes were also very helpful.
