The intention of the project presented is to propose an external lifting of the house in order to have a strong visual impact. Studying the villa and the contest in which she is situated had moved our attention for the project in relation not only to the environment and to our love for the ‘green’ but also in relation to our wish to achieve elegance and sophistication; this matter emerges from the reference pictures chosen by you.
Following these indications we created a long wooden pergola/arbor that embraces the house from the garage until the patio next to the pool.
The light structure of the pergola/arbor is hanged upon the house creating a ‘green’ filter between the internal space and the external garden.
The pergola/arbor is goint to be covered with vegetation in order to create some shadow areas so as to be able to eliminate the umbrellas tthat are now present and that are not aesthetically nice.
It has also been thought to put some vegetation on the roof as well as on the canopies, that are located over the openings, in order to emphasize the idea of ‘green cascades’.
There is a variety of essences that go from the wisteria (typical essence of California), to the jasmine and to the bougainvillea. These plants, with their bright colours recall the summer and they are appropriate to beautify the terraces and the pergolas, transforming every part of the house in an explosion of colours.
Another aspect of the project is the one regarding the openings (windows and french windows).
In order to substitute the present windows, which were a little bit ‘heavy’ from an aesthetical point of view, there have been placed large glass windows, almost unnoticeable to the eye. The type of windows, according to their dimensions and to their opening direction, can be either scroll windows or pivot windows.
The project choice of having large window openings offers the following benefits; it makes it possible to have a more elegant and sophisticated space and from the other hand it permits to have a better view towards the ‘green’ area in which the house is collocated.
The color of the plaster of the facade is going to be light, almost white in order to create a perfect background for the large openings/windows and for the colours of the decorative plants.
