I need a front yard, back yard, and roof deck landscape design for a new modern beach house in Southern California. I would like the overall "theme/concept" to be modern and tropical (but drought resistant). This theme should be consistent across all 3 area (front yard, back yard, roof deck).
For the front yard, I'd like a "tic tac toe" driveway (i.e. concrete separated by grass grid). There are also two planter boxes that flank the driveway. In the smaller right planter box, I need something Tropical/modern but also drought resistant, plus one 20 foot palm tree. In the larger left planter box, I'd like a pathway (to the front door) that also has a "grid/tic tac toe" design in the grass. In the front of the left planter box, there should be some Tropical/modern drought resistant plants that match the right side planter box. I'd also like another 20 foot palm tree on the left side (so the house is symmetrically framed by two palm trees). For the grass areas, fake/synthetic tropical grass that looks real is preferred. I need the landscaping to be drought resistant and "green/sustainable".
For the back yard, again, I'd like a "tic tac toe" grid of grass and concrete patio, with the concrete "grass grid" patio on the left 1/2 of the backyard. On that patio, I'd like some built in concrete/wood seating, a fire pit, and a small built in BBQ (don't need sink/fridge, only BBQ grill and some counter space) on that patio. There will be a retaining wall/planter box along the rear property line, and in this planter box I'd like some tall bamboo (or similar) that will grow 25 ft high to provide privacy (all along rear property line). On the left and right side of the backyard (along the fence property lines), I'd like some Bougainvillea that will again provide some privacy but also some year round color. I'd also like a water feature in the middle/rear of my backyard as a focal point. On the right rear area, I'd like a vegetable planter box or two. The rest of the backyard can be tropical grass (again, fake grass is OK, as long as it looks real) and other plants that will fit the theme (banana plant? birds of paradise? some color would be nice)
For the roof deck and balconies, I mostly just need to pick a plant(s) and planter box that I can put in the existing planters (you can see the planter areas in the drawings). Something colorful yet drought resistant. Not sure if I should use the same matching plants or mix it up. Pink, purple, and white colored flowers I think. On the roof deck there can be some built in seating (wood/concrete) and a larger BBQ area (with sink/fridge/storage). Also need a pergola/awning to provide shade to the rear half of the roof deck.
So these are the pretty detailed requirements (I already know what I want), but I just want someone to draw it up so a contractor can build it. Also, feel free to be creative and add a few surprises.
