New Residential / Multiple Family Homes Design
Milan , Lombardia, Italy
Our urban analysis revealed a strong relation between the artistic, cultural and educational large scale activities that happen in Politecnico di Milano and Triennale.
The project area is situated in a strategic point, near the train station. Here, during the daytime, there is a large flux of people consisting mainly of students. This flux has encouraged the creation of establishments to serve the students during the day, but these establishments are not well diversified. Furthermore, they do not significantly contribute to qualify the neighborhood.
Although it lacks public spaces and activities that can integrate the own inhabitants of the neighborhood, Bovisa has great potential to become a center of culture.
Therefore the main intention is recreating the form of living in this traditional neighborhood by enhancing the relationship between the neighbors of the habitation project. We also want to create a space to integrate the residents and the general people who live or pass through Bovisa by developing a place where cultural activities happen, following the natural tendency of the neighborhood. We want to consolidate the identity of Bovisa and to generate movement, especially in the night. Because of that, we chose to plan a Co-Housing for artists with an exhibition gallery for the works that are produced by the residents.
