My concept for the apartment development was to create a flow between the 8th storeys bulding, the 10th and the 15th, creating a gradual U shape. In this composition the tallest building is situated in the center, in the axis that the two existing buildings in the right create. It also closes the U shape as the other two buildings have a blade form in plan while this one is square, ending therefore the sequel. The concept of the development also takes into consideration the illumination so that the shadow that each building casts to be minimal on the other ones. The general orientation of the flats is east or weast.
The U shape creates a courtyard in the middle, a pedestrian square. As the site is already crowded with buildings and as you mentioned you also need more constructions on site, I proposed to lift this yard a storey so that beneath it can be created the additional spaces. In this way the rest of the site is left free of other constructions, airy and with reasonable distances between buildings. This also takes advantage of the level difference between the existing tall building and Elkstone Road. There is a difference of one level, while the pedestrian slab that I proposed rises with another level. Underneath it there can be accommodated the car parking that the site needs and other facilities.
As for the apartments there are several modules that are highlighted in the plan with the same color. They are mixed to create variation in the facades. Also the apartments vary in size as to be able to accommodate different types of families and different situations.
