Thank you for your submission! I appreciate the fact that you took the time to compete and offer up a design. Your submission was the best, and it wasn't even close. You presented a very interesting and compelling furnishing design for the room. And I love your drawings! It really makes the room come to life.
Now, your design does not comport with my style. So I will not be furnishing the room in the way that you propose. Nonetheless, your proposal certainly does offer up good and interesting ideas; and it will help me to develop my own design, one that does suit my style.
I like the level of detail that you offered, including even the name and cost of the item. It would have been more helpful, though, if you had told me where I could go online to purchase these items.
Interestingly, you have the couches and chairs facing each other -- as opposed to facing the television/fireplace. This was a novel design, which, in some respects, I like very much. It certainly helps to create a nice sense of community within the room.
However, I don't think it works practically speaking, because it makes it difficult to watch the TV. It seems to me that if you want to watch TV -- which I do -- you have to have the big couch facing the television.
You also gave me no details on the ceiling lights. For example, how many and where, exactly, should they be situated on the wall? Should we position a light above each of the bookcases? This is the level of detail I was looking for, but which, sadly, you did not provide.
The same is true of the bookcase/shelving. I was looking for building specifics, which you didn't provide. For example, how many shelves should there be and what there dimensions be? Should there be a cabinet at the bottom?
I need these details, so that I can go to a builder and he can build this shelving unit and install the lights on the ceiling.
Also not wild about your colors. Green?! Light green? No way, sorry. Thanks but no thanks. I'm a traditional guy. I want a younger, more masculine, and traditional feel to my home.
That said, you did a great job. I enjoyed your design and learned a lot from it. I just wish you had give me more. Thank you, and please consider competing in future design competitions, as I build out other rooms in my home.
