*I have a combination kitchen/family room that needs a facelift.
*Most of my time is spent in these two rooms in the house.
*The current condition is old and tired.
*I want warm, modern, streamlined and comfortable. I just purchased the new chairs, couch and ottoman. The chairs swivel and rock and they are wonderful pieces of furniture. Unfortunately, I purchased the chairs in black b/c I thought I was keeping the floor tile (I am not), which has a hint of pink.
*I will paint the kitchen cabinets and would like to move the cabinets from the wall where the stove/oven is, to the big, blank wall behind it.
*Recessed lighting will be installed in both the kitchen and family room.
*I am removing the wooden soffet/lighting above the couch and will replace with some other type of lighting.
*I would like to bring the firebox down flush to the floor in the family room (I just demolished a huge red brick surround and hearth).
*The tv will remain where it has been mounted.
*To save money, I want to use Formica-180fx for counter tops.
*I will pull up all the tile in both kitchen and family room.
*Would like a cool, stainless steel hood for over new stove/oven.
*I like cork for either the floor or as wall tiles.
*I will do as much of the work as I can, as my funds are limited (demo, painting, lay laminate/cork flooring)
*Going Green is great, but besides the 18" solar tube I installed a few years ago and the LED lighting I plan on installing, I am not sure what other possibilities exist.
