An amazing open, spacious and sunny home for a dynamic couple:
Two wings constructed of containers are placed at right angles to each other, forming an L-shape on plan. These define a large outdoor living space for the hot summer months.
Internally, spacious big open volumes are created by stacking containers and enclosing the volumes with lightweight framed construction [ timber or steel ].
An airy vestibule connects the two container 'wings' and provides a welcoming entrance.
Glazing is used extensively to the North and South facades, ensuring daylight penetration regardless of final orientation. [ The final location and orientation of the home is not yet finalized ].
'Green' technologies to be incorporated are: 1. Rainwater harvesting. 2. Solar water heating. 3. Grey water recycling for flushing toilets. Geothermal heating may be an option in your location.
In terms of sneakers: The bottom three feet of the bathroom partition wall is designed to be big shoe drawers. The walk in wardrobe also has a row of shoe drawers at the base. We calculated space for about 275 shoes.
