The idea of the pool house is a jewel box in the woods.
Its architecture reflects the nature around it; hickory
wood is used in the floors and in the ceilings, resonating
the trees of the site.
The house has a great permeable southern face
clad in glass and wood. This surface invites the
untouched natural site into the pool house, as
well as letting sunlight in. This creates creates a
warm light-filled interior that is visually integrated
to the outside. Wood louvers protect the interior
from harsh summer sun.
The Issue of Moisture
In order to deal with the moisture problem, the house
was separated into 2 main zones: The dry and the
wet zones. The best way to avoid moisture problem
is to eliminate the sources of water within the house;
therefore most of the wet facilities (pool, spa, bathrooms)
are segregated from the dry core of the house (living
room and bedroom loft)
Dehumidifiers are also used, but the pool house design
aims not to rely completely on them
