We live in southwest Michigan, have an eastern exposure and are wanting to update and refresh the 20 year old front of our home and make the most of our outdoor living space. The space we need designed is located in the front of our home, with emphasis on the area in front of the Master Bedroom. We would love to have a comfortable and eye appealing sitting area for sipping our morning coffee on warm summer mornings as we watch the sun rise. Our home sits in the middle of 10 acres and is very private and secluded. Our desire is to have some kind of stone patio, possible water feature (either in front of the dining room or as a part of the sitting area) We would also like outdoor lighting strategically placed to accent the project. Another feature we would like is a walkway that leads from the front door to the sitting area. The area south of the front door is in front of the dining room and needs to complement the sitting area somehow. We currently have an underground sprinkling system. Because we have a lot of vegetation (wooded area and mature landscape already in place), we are not looking for a lot of new plantings as we don't want to spend our time tending to them. We would probably like to use potted plants or no plants. Also, we are not interested in any kind of fire pit as we have one on the back of our property.
Hardscape material: natural looking as opposed to brick
Water feature: low maintenance, not a waterfall or pond.
Sprinkling system in place, can adjust if needed, but can't alter or shift main lines.
We want a garden like atmosphere. Not to perfect or pristine. One that goes with the overall wooded area.
