Need design assistance for a temporary 700 sq ft studio I'll be in for about 6 months. The Challenge is finding not only pieces that speak to each other, but blending this with both a few accent pieces I've kept from my older place, plus having these pieces easily fit different spaces as I transition to a new place. The twist is I don't know where my new place will be yet. What's up for grabs is somewhere in Europe, Asia, or Southern USA. Therefore need pieces that can easily scale to apartments in various regions and differing architecture. Primarily looking to design my living room, but the space is an open rectangular space with a kitchen, small eating table, and then living room space.
Trying to blend a few accent pieces I already have which have somewhat set the color palette. Currently have a large Bo Concept Romeo Shag Rug in Purple, Black, and Chocolate. Have a black lacquered Italian squared design entertainment center with some black Kovac Genie Lamps. In the same space is a small round white lacquered tripod bistro table with two Williamina aluminum black chairs back dropped with a black stencil of the Big Ben. Other then the fact the room has tons of grays, thanks to the stainless steel appliances, light fixtures and metallic back splash, which I'm trying to soften. The floors are pale pine, honey colored kitchen cabinets with gray granite counter tops. Walls are typical tan with white molding. Ideally I'll like to layer in an additional accent color and keen on a blue peacock of sorts. Overall design esthetic is modern - contemporary. Apartment is a rental so unable to do any major renovating or light installations.
Selections based on overall design esthetic and practicality. My budget is upwards of $4,000 which would include a sofa, side tables, coffee table, accessories/lighting. Overall color palette is white, black, chocolate, purple, and peacock. Enjoy creativity and drama in a room with an artistic flair. Apartments for a upper 20's graduate student from Europe.
