Hi and thanks for considering my project.
I have just renovated my house and the last thing left is the front of the property. It is road front on a relatively quiet street.
Currently as you can see in the photos there is an old smaller then knee height concrete block wall and sloping grass toward the front entrance. It offers no privacy and doesn't really have a purpose.
I'm looking to achieve some privacy (does not have to be full) and have a fully fenced front yard with gates across the entrance, maby one for cars and one for pedestrians.(fence must include a mailbox) A matching or similar fence would also have to carry on down both sides, down the driveway on the left and up untill the bedroom on the right.
I am a carpenter by trade so timber for the fence and/or retaining wall is my preference but i'm also interested in steel work so am open to any design or plan for any parts (gates etc.)
- Open to work with concrete materials/designs.
- Open to plants/trees to achieve part of the privacy.
Have thought about the possibility of a retaining wall at the front (road side) of the property to create a flat grass area but also am fine with leaving it sloping as is and not retaining.
The purpose of the front yard isn't really for an outdoor living area as we have a large backyard with afternoon sun and a deck but more for having nice street appeal and entrance to the property, in saying that a seat or 2 as front yard/porch furniture would be good.
There is no need in this design to include anything for carparking, One thing i would like to do if possible but not necessary is to have a post underneath the overhang of the front door as you can see in the photos it is saging. I would also like to include outdoor lighting in the front yard.
I have added a picture of inspiration of a couple of fences that i quite like but doesn't necessary have to be anything like as i don't know if they would suit the property.
Feel free to ask as many questions as you like and I will reply as quickly as possible.
